house house house, home

I’m not sure if this is early nesting or if I’m just finally feeling settled in to our new house enough to think about decorating and creating our HOME. It seems that lately my brain is consumed with thoughts about how I want our house to feel. What colors I want to use in our bedroom. What will be the best layout for our growing family? What the coziest furniture will be for the family room we’re creating in the basement. We’re only actively working on one room currently (the sunroom that will also function as my home office) but I’m definitely making major plans for at least five other rooms.

Instead of loading up one blog post with tons of pictures of what I am imagining for our home, I’m going to be patient and post separately for each room. It will be good for me to force my brain into concentrating on one thing at a time- if only for a few minutes.

I can’t wait for our house to feel like a home. B and I have actually lived together in five different places along the years. Some we loved, some we didn't  but one thing is for sure- we never made any of them our HOME. I guess since we have always rented up until now our townhouse/apartment/house always seemed temporary. We never invested a lot of time or money into making everything look and feel the way we wanted. We have lots of mismatched furniture and crappy old decor. Nothing was really planned out or purchased specifically with a design in mind. I am so looking forward to that changing in this house.

Since I’m not sharing plans or pictures for any specific room today, I'm including some random pictures that I like. These are all from Pinterest. In an effort to keep things organized I have my Pinterest boards divided up really specifically- "house- bedrooms" "house- laundry room" "house- playroom", etc. That is how I have my holiday boards divided up too. I know that if I don’t keep things organized I won’t be able to find anything and all usefulness will fly out the window. So far it is working out wonderfully!

More to come, as we make our house our HOME!

We're the same way. This is our first house that we've owned so I'm trying really hard to make it feel like home and look really pretty.

Love the pop of color on the door! My sister just DIYed burlap frames using that exact picture as inspiration this weekend. They turned out great!

I feel you on that one! Every singe piece of furniture we have was given to us by someone else. I would LOVE to go pick out something new (hopefully couches.)It's funny you posted that door picture, just yesterday, I was trying to figure out what color to paint ours. It's difficult to figure out with a light green house.

I love all the colorful pins!! Can't wait to see what you do at your house. And I totally relate on making your place HOME. Ronnie and I have lived in about 5 places together too and now that we own a home I feel like it's finally time to not half ass it, basically. haha. You're inspiring me! :)

It’s in the renovating and decorating of the new HOUSE that starts to turn it into a HOME, but what really does the trick is when the family settles down in it and starts to share their lives together. It must be quite an adjustment for you, going from renting to owning your own home and having to pay mortgage. I’m sure that with the support of your family, you’ll soldier through and be able to settle in soon. Good luck!

Changing the look of your house to make it feel homey is a good thing to do and I know it will be a very long way to go. I just moved in my new house and I’m really spending so much time on thinking about the how I can make it feel a lot more like me. You probably have heard of “house reflects the personality”, right? Hehe! I hope that you’re adjusting to your new home and you’re not having problems with paying your mortgage. :)

Paying for mortgage can be tiring, but I guess thinking about a home redo can be more stressful. LOL! I’ve got lots of ideas in mind on how my house should look like, and I really can’t decide on which one to do on my house. On the other hand, I got a great deal with my creditor so it’s not hard to pay the mortgage fee for my house. I just hope that I can use your photos here as inspiration for my home remodelling. :)
